Courses taken not for academic credit through the Georgia Film Academy professional education (GFA-PE) program are $750/course (starting July 1, 2025 tuition rate will increase to $900/course).

Payment is due in full when you register for the class.

Most classes will meet one-day-a-week for 6 hours at a time (you can click the magnifying glass icon on the registration page for more schedule information). All classes will meet weekly for the duration of the semester. The Fall semester will run for 16 weeks from August 18-December 9.

If you've already completed the prerequisite introduction course for your pathway (GFA 1000, GFA 1040, and/or GFA 1500), but you don't see craft courses listed on the session picker, please fill out the form linked below. We will confirm your prerequisite and reach out when access to the course has been granted.

For sold out classes, you can add yourself to our waitlist. Please make sure you select "Georgia Film Academy Professional Education" from the "school" drop-down menu.

The GFA offers professional certifications in three pathways:

  1. Film & Television Production
  2. Film & Television Post-Production
  3. Live Production, Streaming & Esports

Each certification is 3 courses. You must complete the introductory course in your chosen pathway + a specialty craft course + a second specialty craft course or the internship course (by application/acceptance only) to earn your certification.

You may complete the certification in 2 semesters if taking an intro course (semester 1) and two craft courses (semester 2). If you are pursuing the Internship course, it will take three semesters to complete:

  • intro course (semester 1)
  • specialty craft course (semester 2)
  • internship (semester 3)

Yes, you can! However, you will need to register through a participating college or university to receive credit. If you are not currently a college student, but would like to be, get in touch with our enrollment navigators who can help you find the right fit for you!

If you are currently a student at a partner college or university, you may register for the courses directly through your registration system, as you would for any other class.

Generally students need a high school degree or equivalent credential to take GFA courses. Students must be 18 or older to participate in a GFA internship. For questions or to discuss special circumstances, please contact GFAProEd@usg.edu.

Financial aid is not available for Georgia Film Academy courses through Professional Education. If you require financial assistance, there are nearly 30 Georgia colleges and universities that offer GFA courses for academic credit and are equipped with financial aid options. If you would like to explore the for-credit route, we would be happy to assist you in finding a good fit.

In the event you need to cancel your registration, you must submit a refund request in writing to GFAProEd@usg.edu no later than three (3) business days prior to the start of the class. No refunds will be issued after this time. Notifying the instructor or failure to attend class does not constitute a formal withdrawal and will NOT result in a refund.

Georgia Film Academy Professional Education reserves the right to cancel any class due to insufficient enrollment or for other administrative reasons. Should a situation develop which necessitates cancelation or rescheduling, we may offer you the option to transfer to another course section or will grant a full refund. We will make every effort to notify you of a cancellation by email or phone prior to the start date.  Please make sure you provide a current email and phone number at the time of registration so we may contact you.

If you would like to transfer your registration to a different course section or location prior to the first class meeting, please submit your request in writing to GFAProEd@usg.edu. All transfers are dependent upon seat availability in the requested section/location. You will be notified if your request is granted, and your tuition will be transferred accordingly.
