🎥 The GFA at Trilith Studios

Take classes right across the street from where your favorite movies are made! Our location at Trilith Studios puts students in the heart of the action and gives them the opportunity to train on a unique-in-the-nation 16,000-square-foot sound stage.

With a full package of industry-standard equipment and a teaching roster of industry veterans, our students leave GFA ready to jump onto set.

Is editing more your speed? We have you covered! Our post-production courses meet virtually and in-person at Trilith Studios. With a focus on Avid training - and the opportunity to earn an additional industry certification - students can get hands-on with both picture editing and sound design.

At Trilith Studios, classes utilize our computer labs, edit bays, recording booths, and more!

Ready to jump in?

There's still time to register for Spring classes. Already completed your GFA journey? Then recommend us to a friend who's eager to start! GFA classes at Trilith Studios may just be the key to unlocking your film career.

✔️ Start of the Semester Tips & Tricks

Having trouble getting into D2L? Unsure of where to go? Trying to make spring break plans? Starting a new semester is stressful enough. Here are some reminders to make it a little easier:

I'm having trouble logging into D2L.

Make sure you're using the correct username. If you don't know your username, ask your instructor to provide it to you.

My 2-factor authentication isn't working, and/or I can't reset my D2L password.

You may need to contact the D2L helpdesk for assistance.

  • Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM: USG eCampus Helpdesk: ecore@ecampus.usg.edu or 678-839-5300 or Toll Free 1-855-93ECORE
  • After-hours technical support: D2L Help Center 24 hours a day/7 days a week at D2Lhelp.view.usg.edu or Toll Free 1-855-772-0423.

I don't know where my class is.

Look for a welcome email from emma.smith@usg.edu. This should include all the location information you need. Don't see one in your inbox or spam folder? Reach out and let her know!

I don't know how to attend my virtual class.

There should be information in your D2L class page about how to attend virtually. If you can't find it there, reach out to your instructor directly for help.

Is there class on MLK Day?

No classes will be meeting on January 19. Enjoy your Monday off!

  • Monday classes will resume the following week on January 26.
  • Monday/Wednesday classes will resume on January 21.

What are the GFA spring break dates?

Because our students come from so many different schools, the GFA does not have a set spring break. Classes will meet every week of the semester. If you are planning to miss class during the spring break set by your home institution, please let your instructor know so your absence can be excused.

📜 Fall 2025 Certifications

If you completed your 18 credit hours at the conclusion of the Fall semester or had already completed them, now is the time to petition for your GFA certification! If you're in your 3rd class (or 4th, or 5th, or 9th 😉), you are eligible to submit your petition.

Fall 2025 late petitions are now being accepted through the end of January. Late petitions may be delayed in receiving certification. Eligible students can expect to receive their certification via email in late-February. No petitions will be accepted after January 30.
